CenturyLink ranks No. 1 in Europe for cloud performance and value in Cloud Spectator report on large IaaS providers

Hybrid IT provider gains high scores to top all vendors for Europe

LONDON CenturyLink has been ranked No. 1 for Europe in a cloud performance and value comparison report by Cloud Spectator, a well-known cloud benchmarking and consulting agency focused on Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) performance. The study compared nine major IaaS vendors with data centres in Europe and examined metrics including performance of vCPU, memory, block storage and pricing for each element.

“We’re excited to be named the best IaaS provider in Europe,” said Matt Leonard, Product Director, CenturyLink EMEA.  “It can be very hard for businesses to determine which cloud service provider yields the best value, but this report crystallizes why our hybrid IT approach drives ROI for our customers. At CenturyLink, we provide simple, easy-to-understand pricing with enterprise grade performance. The Cloud Spectator report is a great way for European businesses to demystify performance.”

In order to be ranked in the report, providers must have at least one European data centre and offer a self-service and sign-up portal, hourly billing intervals and block storage. Pricing and performance were analysed across a number of metrics.

“CenturyLink consistently scored highly across many of the metrics, placing it at the top in this report,” said Cloud Spectator analyst Danny Gee. “The Cloud Spectator IaaS report examined the performance of nine major providers, comparing CPU, RAM and block storage performance as well as pricing.”

Cloud Spectator is a cloud benchmarking and consulting agency focused on cloud Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) performance. The company actively monitors several of the largest IaaS providers in the world, comparing VM performance (i.e., CPU, RAM, disk, internal network, and workloads) and pricing to achieve transparency in the cloud market. The company helps cloud providers understand their market position and helps business make intelligent decisions in selecting cloud providers and lowering total cost of ownership. The firm was founded in early 2011 and is located in Boston, Mass.
