PECDA Scoping Event: Workshops and Plenary 

The Objective of the event is to review the survey results and define the scope of the project which will provide the boundaries and guidelines for the project's duration.

Unfortunately we can only accommodate a limited number of experts on each workshop panel (Max 20 per group). Your application will be reviewed by the project committee. Following your application, you will be contacted in due course to confirm your place.

12:30 - 13:00 Arrival Reception with coffee/ tea etc pastries for those who missed lunch

13:00 - Introduction

Introductory welcome and overview of the day’s activities

13:10 - Opening Keynote "The data centre industry today” Prof Ian Bitterlin

· General over view of where data centre industry came from and where it is now

· What the future holds based on predicted trends and questionable stats

· How important DCs and the DC industry has become to business, Gov and economies around the world

13:45 - Overview of PEDCA and its Aims

· When and why the PEDCA project was created

· The EU recognition of its importance

· The objectives of the 18 month project

· An overview of all the envisioned activities which will be taking place over the next 18 months and beyond

· How to get involved

14:15 – Overview of the PEDCA Project scoping workshops

· Purpose of PEDCA Project scoping event in more detail

· Confirmation of the 4 PEDCA project scoping workshop sessions:

· Technical R&D

· Industry R&D

· Training and Education

· Skills Development

14:45 - Coffee Break

15:00 - Workshop Sessions

- A notice board will be displayed in the main communal meeting area reminding the delegates which workshop group they have registered for.

- Each work shop session will have a maximum of 20 delegates to ensure productive and interactive.

- Each session will include a 5-10 min presentation from the workshop chair; this will be designed to focus the group to the task in hand.

Pre- Scoping Event Survey

- The purpose of this survey is to poll the views of the DC community on what they think, which should include those attending the scoping event.

- The Surveys will close 48 hours before the event so the results can be collated and fed to the Workshop leaders to help aid the discussion or validate their own conclusions.

16:30 – Coffee Break

17:00 - Plenary Session

The Plenary Session will feature a report from each of the four workshop chairs to relay the highlights of the discussion, points raised, take away actions and survey results.

The Purpose of the plenary is to:

· Present the findings of each of the workshop groups

· Present to findings of the Pre-event surveys

· Full scoping report will be summarised and made available via website, within 5 days.
